Nan and Bear in Concord

A visit to Minute Man National Park was very interesting. We walked the road that Paul Revere road to give out the warning "The British are Coming".

Information on the battle

Along the road was an inn.

A home along the road.

Inside the inn were cups that were used in serving customers.

a spinning wheel

A cooking fireplace for the meals that were served.

One of the patrons showed me how to use the boot cleaner

Here is a park ranger dressed up showing us how to use a musket. Never know when you might need that information.

The lady to the right is also a park ranger and she was calling out the commands as the young man went through the steps to firing the musket. This is the type weapon used when we fought the british.

Hold on, we are heading to a farm.

Nan and Bear continue in Cape Cod

This home was a true love story. The man had an original family home here. He met and married, the wife wanted a mansion. Sooooo he built this mansion around the original home. She could throw her elaborate parties, if he tired he left the area and went into the small original home.

The mansion had beautiful mirrors, wallpaper and furniture.

The original home was very simple.

We went out on the point of Cape Code and found these three lighthouses called the three sisters.

This is showing two of the lighthouses.

We stopped on the way off Cape Cod and had dinner. It was all fried but good.

Another lighthouse found on Cape Cod.

A barn with a decorative thatched roof. It was a great artist job done on this roof top.

a full shot of the barn with a thatched roof.

A cemetary with a headstone for a person that died during passage from England to America.

A view out on the point of Cape Cod.

Hope you enjoyed the visit to Cape Cod.

Nan and Bear on the Road to Cape Cod

The thousand Trails park I stayed at had great hiking trails. This one lead down to a nice pond.

Plenty of trees to park under.

Bear and I walked to the pond and Bear jumped off the dock into this slimey water. So we walked back to the camp and Bear got a bath.

When Liz arrived we drove into Cape Cod. Stopped and viewed the Cape Cod Canal

A view of the canal

We then visited the wing house.

The family still owns this home. The story is below.

A view of the house

We were there on a day the house was closed, so I took some pictures through the window. A large fireplace for cooking.

A spinning wheel.

A cradle nearby for rocking the baby to sleep.

More Cape Cod coming up.

Nan and Bear on the road to Mass.

I find the houses along in this area facinating to look at.

We stopped at a salt water pond area and I found this home.

Fish get caught in these areas when the tide comes in and goes out.

Boats out fishing for the day.

Found a marsh area went on a hike and learned about how the marshes are effected by the tides.

More of the marshlands on our hike.

The river you see flows salt water in and our of the marsh.

We left the marsh and headed on down the road. Saw this interesting building.

We rounded a curve and found the Maine Diner, home of the best lobster roll ever.

This diner was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. They decribed this lobster roll as one of the best.

The diner logo. sorry this picture did not come out too clear.

I ordered she crab soup. It was sooooo good.

Liz is enjoying her Lobster roll.

And then we had desert. This is a cornmeal pudding with ice cream.  Oh it was so good. It is called Indian Pudding.

I know you will recognize the names on this green sign.

We found another lighthouse.

We stopped and bought three lobsters to have at Liz's sister's home. And here is our future delicious meal.

Out of the pot they come after their cooking.

Into a pan and on the table.

After this grand meal celebrating Liz's birthday, I went on down to a campground and Liz visited with her sister a few days.  Keep tuned more on the way.
