On the Road to Sunrises and Sunsets and other fun things

Share a few sunsets with you. Sometimes you stop in a location that has a breath taking view.

Flowers everywhere.

More sunsets to enjoy.

Watching as the sun goes lower and lower.

Day is done and gone the sun.

Thought you would enjoy flowers, I do.

Red poppies, don't believe I have ever seen these before.

Stopped at a red light and saw these roses on a front porch.

On the Road to Corning

We left PA and headed into Corning, NY. Always thought they only made cooking dishes and Corel. Wrong!!!!

The museum was great.

This is a sculpture of many different pieces fused together...all glass

A hairy bunny

A bowl of fruit that looked delicious enough to eat.

In the museum they had many old pieces of glass to see and this was a display of a firing furance from Egypt.

Here is one half of the furnance.

Some of artwork on plates, the white is overlaid on the original blue...beautiful work

More of that same style but done in pictures.

Stainglass to see, some beautiful mosaic work too, but didn't get pics of that.

Then we were off to the glass furniture.  This was a beautiful table.

Another glass table, with a glass boat and cupids in gold.

A glass table candralabra (now you know I spelled that wrong) with two beautiful vases.

More stain glass.

An innovation to mass produce bottles rather than hand blowing them.

These two young men demonstrated how glass blowing is done and beautiful items are created.

He is shaping the glass. The heat of this glass is about 2000 degrees, you sure don't touch it. He had the basic vase done and is using a tool to shape a glob of glass into a shell shape.

Here he has taken another glob of glass and making a handle to attach to the shell shape.

With gloves that have obviously been burned by use, is taking the hot glass vase and putting it in a cooler so the glass can gradually cool. If it cools too fast it can crack or shatter.

This truck was on display with glass flowers in it. Neat old truck

This was a display that was in the floor for you to see.

Great adventure here, found also that corning developed the optic fiber that is used in many applications including the scope used for Colonoscopies. Good trip, stay tuned.

On the Road to Nan's Birthday.

We stopped at a beautiful Corp of Engineers Park. It was beautiful there. Liz said she was cooking me a birthday dinner. Look what she fixed.

Yep those are BBQ baby back ribs. They were so very tasty.

My favorite all time, mouth watering lemon meriengue pie. Would you like a slice???

Liz sang a bit of happy birthday to me and said let's eat. We did and it was delicious. Thanks again Liz Now let me see, your birthday is when? Can I top this?

On the Road to Goodbye's.

Lori is looking at the "Thank you" card we made for her. No internet so we had to get creative.

Irmi was the proud recipient of Belle our maskot.

This is Irmi's husband giving Lori a goodbye hug.

Now Ernie are you going to make Steve assistant Sultan?

A great time here meeting some new people, visiting with old friends. Will look forward to the next gathering.

On the Road to Meet the Sultan and Lori.

Oh yes it is now time to meet the sultan and his lovely wife Lori.

Here is our real live sultan, he said no respecting sultan would have hair.

The sultan made sure we had plenty of crabs to eat.

Here is the group from RV Women. Lori  is seated with the Sister's shirt on. We had a great time.

Lori made gifts for all of us and was busy giving them out.

The sultan took us on a visit to the Gettysburg battle field. This made you a bit sad to know how many died here, both north and south lost thousands.

One of the guns used during the battle.

From this hill you see a lot of rocks, this was a strategic point in the battle. I stood and looked at those rocks thinking that could be our boys laying there.

Another view from that same hill.

Another of the guns used.

A statue of Robert E. Lee on his horse.

Lori took a group of the women to visit the Elephant Museum and candy store.

This was a great fun place to go. Can here you haven't seen since you were a tyke in short pants.

A huge collection of elephants. Everyone different.

Mr Ed had had a fire and lost the peanut costume he had. Someone gave him this replacement.

This is Mr Ed, he came out and met us as we were coming in.

This is why he is so much into the elephants.

On the Road to the end of Skyline Drive

Wanted to share a few more fawn pictures, he was so cute.

Mama and baby heading off.

A good bye and they were gone, so were we.

We think a bear might have visited behind my motorhome, branches to the cherry tree were broken. MMMMMM what's the possibility???

Cherries were nice and ripe.

As we are looking coming off the Skyline drive, the mountains are sticking their heads up through the clouds. Almost like being on an airplane.

A beautiful sight to see early in the morning.

But alas time to say goodbye to the skyline drive and move on to where??? keep watching.
