On the Road through the St. Lawrence Seaway

We were on the search for lighthouses, and we found them!!

We started here at the Erie Canal. Didn't see as much as we finally realized we could see after we left. Now we must return!!

This is the canal that is raised and lowered to let boats through.

Getting down the streets is a bit nerve wracking with a larger motorhome, but we made it.

First lighthouse we found was  the Thirty Mile Lighthouse. This is the view from the parking lot.

The lighhouse is a wonderful old building and we took a tour inside.

Inside were some items used at that time period by the lighthouse keeper's family.. Gosh I grew up with these items..The first refrigerator with gas in the top container...

And that spacious refrigerator inside...you know this makes your heart beat fast.

Toast with those eggs?  Here is a great toaster. Toast one side of the bread open, flip it over and toast the other side. Then it is butter bound.

This is Lake Ontario washing over a sea wall. Looking at the lake it looks like an ocean with white caps and waves.

We stopped at the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse.  Here is a bit of information about the lighthouse.

Beautiful lighthouse and of course we climbed to the top.

On to the next lighhouse. All of these were used in 1700's.

More lighthouses to come.
